Episode 1: The Wounded Protector

Every kingdom must face the rise of challengers, and in our paddock, the throne has long belonged to Travis. With his burnished feathers and commanding

crow, Travis was more than a rooster — he was a legend. The hens knew his discipline: he kept order, he guarded fiercely, and when danger lurked at the edges of the farm, he was first to strike.

But in the shadows of his reign, a younger rival stirred.

Ricky, still in the fiery throes of rooberty, had grown restless. His once-awkward teenage crows were now bolder, stronger, echoing across the paddock in defiance. His feathers bristled with the arrogance of youth, and his eyes burned with challenge. For Ricky, it was no longer enough to be second in command. He wanted the throne.

The clash came swiftly. Feathers flew, spurs clashed, and the air quivered with the thunder of their battle. Travis fought like the seasoned warrior he was, but Ricky’s youthful fury was relentless. When the dust cleared, it was Travis who staggered, wounded and weary, while Ricky stood tall, chest heaving with triumph.

Ricky...always defiant and and breaking the rules of the coop.

The hens scattered in confusion.

• Oprah clucked in despair: “This cannot be the end of our protector!”

• Augustine, eyes glittering, muttered: “Maybe it’s time for change.”

• Vanessa, sharp and sly, leaned in: “Did you see Ricky’s crow? He’s… different now.”

  
  

I lifted Travis gently, carrying him to recovery. His head rested heavy in my arms, his eyes burning with a mix of pain and pride. From his pen, he could still see the flock — and Ricky — strutting in the sunlight, hens trailing behind him like courtiers testing their loyalty.

The paddock was no longer united. Travis, the wounded protector, watched as Ricky — drunk on youth and ambition — stepped into a role he had not yet earned.

Would Ricky prove himself worthy, or would the flock descend into chaos under his reckless rule? And when Travis heals… will he forgive, or fight again?
